Following the lawsuit filed by public prosecutors against Mr. Premchai as the first defendant for offering a bribe to the officials, the court sentenced him to one year in jail without suspension. Yesterday’s verdict for the one-year jail term was delivered in addition to the 16 months jail term earlier handed out to him by Thong Pha Phum court for wildlife poaching which is currently under appeal.
Mr. Premchai who was released under bail for 200,000 baht may appeal against the court verdict in 30 days. Besides, Mr. Premchai and his spouse have been charged with the possession of African ivories. A court trial on plaintiff witnesses is scheduled for August 8 and 9 and a court trial on defendant witnesses is scheduled for August 13 and 14.
Besides, Mr. Premchai has been charged with the illegal possession of three rifles and a cap gun at his house in Soi Soon Vijai 3 in Khwaeng Bang Kapi in Huay Khwang district of Bangkok. A court trial is scheduled for July 9.
