Government to allot 2% of Excise Revenue to Older Persons Fund

BANGKOK, Nov 18 (NNT) - Two percent of excise tax revenue will be deducted and allotted to the Older Persons Fund to help the elderly getting by on low incomes. According to Finance and Economics Adviser to the FPO Pornchai Teeravej, the Elderly Persons' Bill, which requires that an amount of 2% of excise tax from alcohol and tobacco that does not exceed 4,000 million baht per year must be transferred to the Older Persons Fund, has been approved by the NLA. The transfer will be made in 30 days after an announcement has been made in the government gazette.
