BANGKOK, Mar 12 (NNT) - The Thai government has held a meeting to prepare for the hosting of two ASEAN Summits next year.
Prime Minister Gen Prayut Chan-o-cha chaired the meeting, where he emphasized the need for those involved to prepare the country for next year’s ASEAN Summit. In 2019, Thailand will take over the ASEAN chairmanship from Singapore, as the chairmanship is rotated among ASEAN member nations alphabetically. Next year the Kingdom will host two major conferences in conjunction with other forums.
The premier cited the need to promote connectivity between ASEAN member nations and other countries beyond the community, as it will be of benefit to the regional bloc.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs is responsible for informing the general public about the summits, in order to raise awareness about its opportunities.
