Speaker Datuk Mohamad Ariff Md Yusof announced after the debate hat 86 MPs voted for the motion and 36 against it.
Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department Datuk Liew Vui Keong had tabled the motion, pointing out that Najib had uploaded the White Paper ‘Towards the Sustainability of FELDA’ onto social media at 5.39 pm on April 9 when it was embargoed for 11.30 am on April 10.
“This august House views with grave concern the action of the Honourable MP for Pekan who has breached the embargo on the White Paper on ‘Towards the Sustainability of FELDA’.
“The action of the Honourable MP for Pekan is contrary to Standing Order 95A and is held as contempt of the House. Hence, it is agreed that the Honourable MP for Pekan should be referred to the Rights and Privileges Committee,” he said when tabling the motion.
Meanwhile, Dewan Rakyat Deputy Speaker Nga Kor Ming, at a press conference at the Parliament lobby, dismissed an allegation that the White Paper had been uploaded onto the Parliament website before it was tabled in the Dewan Rakyat yesterday.
He said the document was only uploaded after Economic Affairs Minister Datuk Seri Mohamed Azmin Ali had tabled it in the House.
“There was no violation of any rule. As such, any allegation from the opposition that Parliament staff had uploaded the document in violation of the embargo is untrue and unfounded,” he said.
